Outer Banks

The week before our big move, we rented a house in the Outer Banks with some of our good friends from Philadelphia, the Meads and the Gassers.
It was kind of bittersweet because this was our last time together before our move, but it was so nice to be able to spend this time together. We had a great time just hanging out on the beach. Carter LOVED the beach, he had a blast playing in the waves, collecting shells, and playing in/eating the sand

We also visited the Currituck lighthouse and went kayaking and paddle boarding in the sound (the outer banks is a long skinny island with the ocean on one side and the sound on the other side).

I actually really liked paddle boarding, it was really relaxing! On a couple of evenings, we went back to the sound in the evening and watched the sunset. Every night at sunset, a man came to the sound and played the bagpipes as the sun went down. It was kind of magical!

I think our favorite thing that we did at the Outer Banks was driving to Carova beach, after the paved road ends. Jeremy had a great time off roading in the Xterra.

The beach was a lot less crowded and the waves were the perfect size to play in . Staying in the same beach house as the other families was so much fun. We were able to cook yummy meals together, stay up late playing games after the kiddos went to bed, and have quality girl time in the hammocks on the porch.
We are really going to miss our friends! But this definitely isn't the last time we'll go on a trip like this together. so, until next time!
