After finals, almost everyone took off to go home for Christmas, except us. We were Ithaca bound while we awaited Logan's grand debut. It was fun having Jeremy around again after being so busy with finals. Carter and I were able to show him some of our favorite spots in Ithaca (it's funny that Jeremy had never been to a bunch of these places because he's been so crazy busy with school). We introduced him to Ithaca Bakery
We also went to Ithaca's annual ice carving festival and chowder cook off on the commons. It was pretty awesome seeing how ice sculptures are made...and sampling all the yummy chowders.
Here we are getting hot chocolate at the ice bar. It was fun to be able to spend some time, just the three of us, before we became a family of four!

Jeremy's 30th Birthday
This year, Jeremy turned the big 3-0! I decided to throw him a surprise birthday party to help ease the passing of his youth. The theme was "dirty thirty," more in the sense that thirty is a dirty word, and less in the sense that the party was actually dirty...
During the week before the party I worked hard during nap time to make the decorations and plan everything. I told Jeremy that I wanted to take him out to hibachi for his birthday on the last day of finals. I told him that our friends, the Strykers, had agreed to let us put Carter to bed at their place that night. Jeremy wanted to invite a bunch of friends to go to Hibachi with us, which was tricky because all of them were invited to the surprise party and they weren't sure how to respond when he asked them to come to dinner. Jeremy was a little bit confused why no one was responding to him when he invited them to come haha. On the day of the party, I brought all the decorations over to the Strykers, and my friend Lacy and Laura were nice enough to babysit and put up all the decorations while we were gone. Here is a picture of the birthday boy!
And the spread..we had a bunch of Jeremy's favorite goodies...key lime pie, a Dr. Pepper bar, and Wegman's Ultimate chocolate cake complete with a tombstone.
For Jeremy's present, I custom framed his grandpa's old Cornell pennant from the 1940's. I had two plaques engraved, one with the dates Jeremy's grandpa attended Cornell, and another with the dates that Jeremy will attend. I think it turned out really well.
For the party we did a white elephant gift exchange. There were some pretty funny gifts. I brought two Kuhre classics, a diaper filled with turtle chocolates, and a doo rag.
I think the party was a success. The only lame part was that the Strykers' downstairs neighbor ended up calling the police. This was completely baffling to us, and also to the policeman because there was no loud music and no drinking...some people. Happy 30th Jeremy!
